A gas canister exploded at a cafe in the area of Loutro near the town of Amphilochia at about 10:45 on Wednesday morning. The blast was so fierce that it apparently injured more than sixteen people, four of whom suffered serious injuries from broken windows and aluminum debris.
The injured were immediately rushed to the local hospitals in Amphilochia as well as in Agrinio.
The gas canister appears to have been used for heating lamp, however the cause of the explosion has not yet been determined.
