Small number of Syrian refugees at Syntagma Square apply for political asylum

The Ministry of Interior’s General Secretary of Population and Social Cohesion Angelos Syrigos said on Thursday that only 40 Syrian refugees, that are presently protesting on Syntagma Square, have applied for political asylum. (That is only 40 from hundreds of others.)

In order to be given political asylum, applicants need a passport, identity card or international driver’s license and/or a period to be identified.

Greece's Ministry of Interior is committed in providing asylum seekers with shelter, food and health care.
