GAP NARROWING - SYRIZA lead Over ND Now At 3.4 pct

The radical Left main opposition party (SYRIZA) may continue to lead over the conservative ruling New Democracy (ND), but the gap is narrowing according to a new opinion poll conducted by Rass which was featured in the Sunday edition of the Eleftheros Typos newspaper.

Unlike several months ago, SYRIZA is now only leading the ND party by 3.4 percentage points. In the poll, some participants said that SYRIZA would win if national elections were held in the near future, however, current prime minister Antonis Samaras is still the more suitable candidate for prime minister.

According to the poll results the third place goes to Potami with 5.8 percent followed by the Communist Party (KKE) with 5.3 percent, PASOK with 4.6 percent, Golden Dawn with 4.4 percent, Independent Greeks with 2.8 percent followed by Ecologists-Greens with 1.5 percent and ANTARSYA with 1.1 percent. 4.4 percent of the respondents said the will vote for another party and 16.2 percent did not answer.

People are more afraid of SYRIZA and its strategy of reversal (41.9 pct) followed by ND (37.2 pct).

Moreover, two days before the second round of the presidential elections, 43.2 pct has positive opinion for candidate Stavros Dimas and 32.5 pct negative.
