Cephalonia shaken by strong earthquake

A strong earthquake jolted the island of Cephalonia early on Sunday morning and was felt across western and southern parts of Greece, US Geological Survey (USGS) reported.

The 5.2-magnitude quake occurred at 01:15 local time (23:15 GMT, November 8) some 8 kilometers (about 5 miles) away from Lixouri town in the west of the island.

The earthquake's seismic focus was at the depth of 16 kilometers (about 9 miles).

Officials state that there have been no reports of casualties, damages and/or a tsunami alert.

This is the second quake in several days. Last Friday a 4.7 jolt rocked the island bringing up memories of similar earthquakes of the past.
