SHOCK - Less Than 10% of All Those Unemployed Receive OAED Benefits

Currently there are many people who have lost their jobs and/or unemployed in Greece, but did you know that over 90% of all those who are without work, or an estimated 1,172,817 people, are unable to collect OAED’s unemployment benefit, while only 1.5% of long-term unemployed collect the additional 200-euro benefit.

OAED’s official data, which shows that less than 10% of unemployed, 102,026 people, can collect the benefit due to the legal restrictions imposed, according to an article in the Monday edition of the Ta Nea newspaper. Most applications for the benefit, says the same report, are rejected due to the minimum number of wages the unemployed must have collected.

However, for the “lucky few” who actually qualify and fulfill the strict legal requirements, the benefit is still not enough because it is a mere 360 euros per month, (increased by 10% for each protected family member of the beneficiary).
