A fire broke out in a basement at the USA’s embassy in Athens on Sunday night, but was quickly extinguished before it could cause more damage.
Press reports in Athens said that it has not yet been determined what caused the fire, but as soon as the fire was noticed, the Fire Brigade dispatched seven vehicles and twenty firefighters to the scene.
The fire, which broke out in a basement where paper documents were kept, apparently caused a lot of smoke but luckily it was set under control and extinguished after about an hour.
