The Greek coast guard reportedly detained roughly 140 illegal immigrants off the coast of Karpathos and Rhodes in the Aegean Sea. This also included four traffickers.
A report from the state news agency said that the four accused of trafficking are three Turks and an Iranian, while the migrants are from Syria (36), Somalia (33) and Afghanistan (67). Among those detained are five children from Syria and 28 from Afghanistan.
The same report noted that they informed the coast guard that their journey started from the coast of Turkey and they were heading to Italy.
