Hellenic Postbank Scandal - Will Owner of Alpha TV End Up At Korydallos Prison?

Alpha TV channel and Interamerican insurance firm owner Dimitris Kondominas gave a written deposition on Tuesday and according to reports he might be kept in custody until his trial. Prosecutors George Andreadis and Popi Papandreou, who questioned Kondominas in regard to allegations that he received 110 million Euros in unsecured loans from the Hellenic Postbank, are set to decide on the fate of the businessman by Wednesday.

Kondominas was placed under arrest last Thursday and is currently under police guard at the private Athens clinic.

One prosecutor believes that Kondominas should be held under severe restrictive conditions, but the interrogator is in the opinion that the owner of Alpha TV should be released on five million Euros bail.

It should be reiterated that Kondominas is implicated in a scandal involving bad loans at the failed state-owned Hellenic Postbank. The scandal which involves around 25 people, concerns millions of Euros in suspicious loans that were allegedly granted to various businessmen and entrepreneurs without any guarantees and/or collateral.

Kondominas, who is presently being treated at a private clinic in Athens, claims that he has not done anything wrong and that the case involved a credit card which he claims was set to be repaid.
