Travel + Leisure - Santorini: 4th Most Popular Island In The World

Santorini, Greece, is included on the list of “World’s Best Islands” for 2013 by Travel + Leisure Magazine in its annual poll. This year, the Greek island ranked fourth, rising two places from last year. Travel + Leisure is a travel magazine based in New York City, New York. Published 12 times a year, it has 4.8 million readers, according to its corporate media kit.

For 2013, Palawan in the Philippines debuted at No. 1 with a score of 95.04. Boracay in the Philippines, which topped the list last year, landed in second place with a score of 93.58. Maui in Hawaii ranked third (89.83).

According to the magazine, Santorini is a mythical ancient island that endured one of the largest volcanic eruptions in history and feels like no other place on earth. In the island, everything is brighter: the whitewashed cube-shaped houses, the lapis lazuli sea, and the sunsets that light up the caldera.
