Greek police announced the dismantling of an international heroin-trafficking ring bringing drugs from Turkey into Greece and then into Italy. According to reports six people were placed under arrest (Greek nationals and four Albanian), during a sweeping police operation in three separate locations.
Nearly 23 kilos of heroin were found and confiscated during arrests in operations in the cities of Kavala, Karditsa and Thessaloniki.
The two Greek suspects, aged 53 and 43 years old, acted as intermediates in the trafficking chain, picking up the narcotics in order to turn them over to the Albanians, aged between 25 and 30 years old, so they may be transported to Italy.
