Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and Chairman Captain Wei Jiafu inaugurated Wharf 3 at the Cosco Affiliate Piraeus Container Terminal S.A. headquarters, during which Samaras officially invited the Chinese part to further invest in transport-related sectors, such in trains, ports and shipyards.
Alluding to his recent trip to China, Samaras noted that there is unlimited potential for cooperation in various fields, since "regardless of the intensity and form the crisis may take, the answer is investments".
The PM announced that the Greek government is negotiating a new agreement for the west side, which will result in a € 224 million investment and the creation of 500 permanent new jobs combined with 200 temporary ones during the 3-year construction period.
He then highlighted that after the completion of the investment, Piraeus Port will reach a 7 million tonne capacity, with total investment of € 500 million and a total number of 3.000 jobs. (AMNA)
