The Turkish research vessel "Piri Reis" was spotted off of the island of Chios on Thursday where reports said it had begun conducting seismic surveys for hydrocarbons. According to a report on
defencenet the ship has not violated Greek territorial waters. Presently, the Piri Reis is moving within Turkish waters and the area which it has committed to NAVTEX. Apparently the ship is going to continue to conduct seismic research here until April 5.
It should be noted that the Turkish research vessel is being closely monitored by Hellenic Naval Forces.
