Kasidiaris' Trial Over 2007 Attack Postponed Until Thursday

Golden Dawn MP and spokesman Ilias Kasidiaris was expected to stand trial on Monday in connection with an allegded mugging of a student in 2007, but the case was postponed until Thursday.

Although he has denied involvement in the attack, he is accused of being part of a group of five people that attacked a student six years ago, who was then assaulted and stabbed and had his identity card stolen.

The one and only witness to the incident maintains that the students assailants were driven away in Kasidiaris’s car and that is why he is being charged of being involved. (In other words the witness never saw Kasidiaris, but just assumed it was him because of his car.) It should also be noted that the credibility of this witness is also being questioned since she is an active member of SYRIZA and has apparently already been accused of perjury and defamation.

Kasidiaris' immunity was lifted by his fellow MPs in order for him to stand trial.
