A young innocent woman was killed late on Friday night after being caught in the exchange of gunshots between police and a number of armed men near the Corinth canal. The suspects had staged an armed robbery at a taverna near the village of Paleokoundoura near the Corinth Canal. According to reports, the men left with a X-amount of money as well as the owner’s car. A little later on the police located them near the Athens-to-Corinth national road, near Kinetta and a car chase began. The armed robbers apparently opened fire at a police car through the use of Kalashnikov* rifles, resulting in the fatal injury of a 25-year-old woman at Isthmia, near Corinth in northern Peloponnese.
The 25-year old woman was a passenger in another car that was simply heading to Epidavros.
The criminals still remain at large and the Greek police is now conducting a large operation that involves special forces and a helicopter for their arrest.
