How ironic, while some Greeks struggle for their daily bread, others are increasing their profits and making it on the Forbes list! According to reports, three Greeks are on the annual list of the world's richest people which is compiled every year by American business magazine Forbes. The list includes 1,426 names headed by Mexican telecoms magnate Carlos Slim Helu and his family with a fortune of US $73 billion, followed by computing giant Bill Gates with assets worth US $67 billion.

According to the same reports, Greek banker and shipping leader Spiros Latsis (and his family) rose in the ranking to the 412th spot this year from 464 in last year's list, with assets of US $3.3 billion. The second-wealthiest Greek on the list is British-born Aristotelis Mistakidis, of Glencore International with a fortune of US $2.7 billion, while art collector Philippos Niarchos, came in 554th place with assets worth US $2.6 billion.
