A team of Greek architects won the international competition organized by the Piraeus Port Authority (OLP) to redesign the Maritime Antiquities Museum that will be housed in the old SILO and its surrounding open space. The museum forms part of a masterplan to establish a Museum Neigbourhood in the area, which will also include the relocated Archeological Museum of Piraeus and an Immigration Museum. Their proposal -unanimously chosen by the jury among 89 contestants from
around the world- includes the redesigning of the building that will
house the Maritime Antiquities Museum and the regeneration of the
Piraeus Port Authority Coastal Zone, with the aim of creating an open
public space that is both urban and communal. The project, the cost of which has been estimated at about € 118 million, is going to be materialized by Evangelos Antonopoulos, Thalia Vetta, Yiorgos Gavalas, Mary-Kyriaki Riga, Anastasia and Maria Stamouli Pylarinou.- Greek News Agenda
