Look up in the sky, it's a bird, it's a plane... Nope, none of the above its just good old George Papandreou who insists on saving Greece from the big bad Europeans. He doesn't care if Greeks do not want to be saved, George insists otherwise. Can someone please inform him that his delusional ideas, and wannabe socialistic philosophies almost caused the collapse of the Eurozone? His latest initiative was to write a letter to US President Barak Obama and literally ask him to ... save Southern Europe, and Greece!
The social worker who became the most loathed prime minister in Greece and who now pretends to be a professor, but is really an invited speaker at Harvard's Kennedy School, invited the US President to put pressure on European officials to "save Greece" and at the same time, save itself.
In George's world the markets, (yeah... you know which ones, the CDS market, the George Soros hedge fund market, etc...), do not really believe that the austerity measures that have begun being implemented in Greece are enough to solve Greece's economic woes, so Europe must end the crisis by proclaiming that the buck ends here and now (or end Greece's suffering by ending its financial debts). "Greece is part of the Eurozone. End of story," he adds. What an interesting observation and mastery of words George... What an eyeopener. Really We are members of the Eurozone? Well you did everything in your power to prove otherwise and almost cost our country an exit out of the Eurozone.
(Editor - Bet your friend Soros has given you a couple of good pats on the back over that one.)
In the letter, Papandreou even accuses European leaders of not reading US officials correctly -or thinking of them as bad actors- when the Americans attempted to push the EU to take drastic measures to return to development. "Back then the Europeans said that the Americans exported their own crisis to Europe," says former prime minister. (Now that indeed is something that needs to be debated...)
He then asked Obama to begin a series of negotiations with investors who want to begin looking for opportunities in southern Europe, and/or in Greece. (In other words, now that Greece is in an economic bind, everything is up for sale)
Papandreou then invited Mr. Obama to visit Greece as a sign of good faith and in the framework of helping our country in its course to recovery. He notes that a visit to Greece, is a show of support to the Greek people, "and it would be a real vote of confidence in the abilities of the country and in Europe to solve the euro zone crisis."
Then the sucking up starts
"Obama wants to be remembered as a president who changed things," says Papandreou, adding that "by connecting with the Democratic presidents who inspired the European Vision, such as Truman, Kennedy and Roosevelt he will ensure his own legacy".

Editor - Good initiative... but the question remains... WHY? Maybe to just suck up for the sake of sucking up? Maybe he just wants to remain in the news, or maybe he is afraid of something and wants to be in the forefront and close to the US President when it happens. Who knows... It is either anything of the above, or it was simply another attempt by George to heal his tarnished image with the Greeks. In any case... He had his five minutes of fame.
