During the Christmas and the New Year holidays, people experience a 'quickening'. There isn't enough time. There are presents to buy, Christmas and New Year's Eve parties to prepare for and Holidays to plan. We dread the family get together, when we will be reunited with family members we don't really like but tolerate for one day.
If we are blessed with young ones, Christmas through their eyes is a real joy.
If we are alone then Christmas can be depressing.
Whatever our circumstances, lets not forget those less fortunate then us. Lets take the time to visit with our lonely neighbor and share a cup of tea with them. Lets take the time to visit a hospital and spend an hour reading to a sick child or an elderly person with sight impairment.
Lets not buy another party dress but instead buy a hamper for the needy family in our street.
Most of all lets stay in touch with our spiritual beliefs and remember that Christmas is a celebration of the life of Jesus Christ. Everything else is in excess.
Happy Holidays to all
