SYRIZA Opens N.Y. Office - Plans To Woo Diaspora

The Coalition of the Radical Left (SYRIZA) now operates an office in New York city, where it hopes to begin wooing the Diaspora over its "unique" political platform. In its support, approximately 40 professors, academics, business executives, artists and others met and held a discussion a couple of nights ago about the Greek economic crisis as well as SYRIZA's role in opposing austerity measures ordered by international creditors.

According to press reports, Associate Research Scientist at NASA GISS, Anastasia Romanou, Professor of Political Theory at the University of Salford in England Peter Bratsis, and University Lecturer in Modern Greek Studies at the University of Oxford Dimitris Papanikolaou, who are  members of the Initiative Committee who organized the event, were present.

SYRIZA is trying to move in on a very conservative community. We do not know how well the Greek Diaspora will receive them, seeing as most of its members either stem from PASOK (a no-no word with Greek investors in New York because of the Ktimatiki Scandal) and the Greek civil war... which pushed most of the people of Greece to immigrate to the Americas in the first place!

Besides, the Greek Diaspora is full of patriots, and will never accept SYRIZA's foreign policy proposals which are in most cases against current Greek interests. For instance, SYRIZA is not against FYROM being called "Macedonia", they are not against Turkish moves in Thrace, they want the illegal immigrants in Greece to bring over their families so that the Greek population will become a minority in a fanatical Islamist republic, and finally they want to re-negotiate Greece's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) agreements with Albania (which will in the long-term benefit Turkey).

We here at HellasFrappe advise our American brothers and sisters to proceed with caution.Things are not as you see... and the people behind Alexis Tsipras, who leads the SYRIZA party, are not exactly your typical Marxist type of characters either who want equality and the sharing of wealth.

On the contrary... his biggest supporter is Gianna Angelopoulos who is a multi-millionaire, supporter of the drachma block in Greece and the woman who wanted to topple Costas Karamanlis the most because he refused to make her president of the Republic. She and her husband were recently in the news for lying about their luxury home, because they did not want to pay the required property taxes. Moreover, she has been accused by DEH (Greek Power Company) of holding a lavish party one year at this home and even setting fire to a nearby forest. And if that wasn't enough, this wannabe is already suspected of mishandling funds and making a fortune from heading the Athens 2004 Olympic Games (where works were charged as much as five times their actual cost).

As for the "other shady individuals" behind SYRIZA... Just remember that all of PASOK... simply took one step towards the Left. So if you detest PASOK for what it did to Greece's economy... then think twice before tolerating SYRIZA's rhetoric because it is one in the same.
