In a statement Wednesday after a meeting with Council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE) president Stephanos Tamvakis, Tsipras said that the country must reject the perpetual economic supervision by "those who want to render the country a debt colony", adding that Greece is already facing an unprecedented crisis, an economic and social disaster it has never seen before except after war.
Tsipras praised the SAE and its efforts to help the Greek people and attract serious investors to Greece, while at the same time supporting the new immigrants leaving the country in search of a better fate. The two men discussed the losses suffered by Greeks abroad who had purchased Greek sovereign bonds, due to the haircut of the Greek debt and the PSI, adding that this showed the unreliability of the Greek state. Editor's Note - His meeting with SAE does not surprise us one bit. We are certain that his benefactor Mrs. Angelopoulou is very pleased... her investment is doing well. Small Qiuz: Exactly who is SAE representing abroad? Investors... or Greeks? Because if they were representing Greeks, then they would be in Washington rallying against the FYROM and Turkish lobbies. Also, they would be accessible to all Greeks in the Diaspora and not just a selected few. Finally, this organization would not be meeting with the political elite of Greece, instead it would be having one to one sessions with Greek Diaspora organizations on how to bring Greeks of the Diaspora closer to Hellas. HellasFrappe once believed strongly in this organization, but we changed our opinion of them with the passing of time because we have never seen and/or experienced any of their work. We also suspect that they worked closely with George Papandreou and the PASOK party in 2009 -according to the Kalami newspaper- in order to vote against the voting rights law that former Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis had tabled in the Greek Parliament. As some may remember, PASOK voted against this law in fear that the Diaspora -which is mostly conservative- would vote against them. AHEPA is another such organization. Although it has donated money to various Greek charities, it hasn't really done any substantial work on Greek national issues. That is why it does not surprise us one bit that Tsipras, met with them... its like watching the same old story again.
