Famous reporter Spyros Karatzaferis was arrested late on Tuesday night outside of the Israeli embassy for slander against Ahimandrite Iakovos Giosakis. Greek press reports said that he was taken to the Korydallos prison. A little after his arrest (around 2.30 am) and via his television channel APT, his brother George Karatzaferis (leader of LAOS), said that Spyros was determined to go to jail because he did not want to the fine for slandering Giosakis. And here is where the story gets a little funny... and one has to really question the intentions of both Karatzaferis brothers. On his part, Spyros Karatzaferis said that he was rather arrested because he was in possession of classified documents that were stolen from the Finance Ministry. And his brother George Karatzaferis even made a reference to the alleged Lagarde List as well.Archimandrite Iakovos Giosakis, who was imprisoned on charges of fraud and money laundering several years ago, was suspended in May, 2012 by the Court of Appeals in Athens. At first Giosakis was sentenced to nine years in prison but under a new law the offense of fraud became a misdemeanor, and his sentence was reduced. (newsnow, onair)
