GOOD NEWS - Parliamentary Com't Begins Talks On Voting Rights Of Greeks Living Abroad

Great news for ex-pat Greeks, and something which HellasFrappe has been actively rallying for for almost two years now. The issue of voting rights for Greeks living abroad, was, amongst other things, one of the main subjects cited by the Parliamentary Special Permanent Committee on Greeks Abroad, during its first first session which was held on Monday. Its chairman, New Democracy (ND) MP Adonis Georgiadis, told the Greek state news agency (AMNA) that the committee is going to play a leading role in all issues concerning expatriate Greeks. The right to vote from abroad, for individuals still registered on Greek election rolls, has been a long-time demand by expatriate Greek communities around the world (and for a good reason). Other subjects discussed included the reorganisation of the Wold Council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE) as well as the activation of the "Logos Program" which was launched by the Greek Ministry of Education in the teaching of the Greek language overseas.

Editor's Note - Bravo. - This is wonderful news.
