Greece Doesn't Need Turkish Help For Grand Prix Idea

Many publications have been published in Turkey recently on a hypothetical project Grand Prix of Greece and that Greek organizers (who are suposedely supporting this idea) requested for advice and assistance to the former organizers of the Turkish World Championship, all of which has been denied by Greek officials.

The reports had stated that Lucas Kanis, the Mayor of Drapetsona (a suburb in Piraeus), who apparently aspired to race in the future of Formula 1 contest is in some type of negotiations with Tahindzhioglu Mumtaz, president of the Turkish FIA (TOSFED). The reports said that he was in discussions about how the various practical issues, as well as possible financial plans can support such an event.

Obviously the reports that someone other than Greece's Dielpis Formula 1 Project organizers was negotiating with foreigners about the idea (and especially Turks) hit a nerve and a statement was immediately released which categorically rejected all the information in the Turkish press. The statement noted that the exclusive rights to all intellectual and industrial property rights associated with the project of the future Grand Prix Greece is owned by Dielpis Formula 1, and no one but its representatives are not authorized to negotiate with potential investors.

“The location of the route to the port of Piraeus and all the technical details of the project – is the result of much research, and it is assumed that the Speedway will have a number of special characteristics. Thus, we do not need help or advice of people who have not coped with the commercial management of the Istanbul track … “

According to Dielpis Formula 1, its representatives have never held talks with Turkish investors and did not intend to delegate any right of the Turkish side, because it is “contrary to the principles of the company and the project exclusively Greek.” Also, authors of the statement stressed that the plan for future trails along with the overall development of the project area has already passed Greek investors. Finals is as follows: “We believe that all journalistic reports of involvement of the Turkish investors have insidious implications, and their objective is to attempt to disrupt the project of the Greek track of Formula 1.”
