Practice What You Preach - 2Mln Uninsured Cars, 750,000 of Which Belong To The State!

The Greek state should really practice what it preaches, if they do not operate by example then why should average citizens follow suit? According to news reports the state is planning to send out steep fines to citizens who have not acquired insurance for their automobiles. A report in Imerisia at the weekend said that at least one million automobiles are currently in circulation without any sort of insurance. The state hopes to absorb at least 250 million euros from these fines, but it should really begin taking care of its own before it begins issuing anything because almost 700,000 of these automobiles belong to the state  (mayors, MPs etc), and what's more roughly 350,000 do not even have no license plates! The article also notes that there are some special cases involving seamen or businessmen who permanently live abroad and will not be fined. but nonetheless the government is looking into how to cover this issue in the future as well, and some sort of fine might just be issued.
