Negative Twitter Comments As Greek Team Enters Stadium At 2012 Games

The offensive and negative comments made by the former government of George Papandreou as well as those made by financial tycoons over the last few years who bet heavily against our country in order to fatten their wallets have definitely left their mark on Greece, and this nation's reputation will probably be tarnished for years because of it.  But its not just foreigners who are making negative remarks against Greece and its people, there are many Greeks who also make sarcastic comments against the country when they should in all actuality join forces in order to stand united against all this negative climate.

Speaking of negative comments, an interesting news report was featured on the newsnow website this morning claiming that when Greece entered the Olympic stadium in London last Friday night (during the opening ceremonies of the 2012 Olympic Games), the social networks caught on fire and many ironic and malicious comments were made against Greece. Most comments recorded in the following news story are from twitter.
  • "Really, the Greeks had money to buy such a large flag?" - said one user.
  • "Greece leads all nations. Apparently because of debt" - said another user
  • "The Greek team came out first because they have no money to buy parking for several hours." - said another message
  • "The Greek government will sell as many medals as it can and will put money in the state budget," added another user.
And someone else who decided to comment on the copper jugs that were being carried by a young Englishman accompanying the Greek delegation stressed that
  • "... there you can make your donation to Greece."
Sarcastic comments were also made in Greece (and we apologize England, but we liked this one).:
  •  "...why not take the stolen marbles for a walk and hopefully show some culture".
