Mayor of Herakleion To Donate 1.5mln To Create Muslim Cemetery

If our leaders want to live by example, then they will seriously re-consider the following decision. According to newsnow, Giannis Kourakis, the Mayor of Herakleion, Crete (who belongs to the PASOK party) has decided to donate at least 1.5mln Euros of taxpayer money in order to create a cemetery for the Muslim community that lives in his city. Interestingly, this cemetery will only host 50 graves, and the cost of every grave has been estimated at 30,000 euros. And one really has to wonder... Why are Greek tax payers obligated to pay for a Muslim cemetery in the first place? Why can't the municipal authorities in Herakleio donate the same amount in order to construct a Greek cemetery as well?  Couldn't the Mayor of Herakleion donate this money to the numerous families in his city who are suffering from the economic crisis and are living below the poverty line? And for God's sake... are they planning to bury King Tut and the plots cost 30,00 each? It looks like the PASOK party will never change... anything for a buck and vote. (Source in Greek - newsnow)
