Discovery of Countless Weapons - Crime Circuit Busted With Operations In Attica & Evia

Authorities arrested two men (a 40-year old and a 42-year old) in Evia on Saturday who were apparently selling deadly weapons to customers in Evia, Attica as well as several other regions all over Greece.

According to an extensive investigative which was conducted by State Security officials in cooperation with customs authorities of the "Eleftherios Venizelos" airport, the two men had been importing parcel packages from the United States, Germany and Hong Kong since 2006. The packages included war rifles, sub machine guns, pistols, revolvers, cartridges - various calibers -, electrical discharge devices (tazer), anesthetic spray and firearms accessories, which were then sold to the highest bidders in Evia and Attica.

Some ten parcels were identified and then investigated for their contents in Evia, Athens and Argos. After a thorough search that was conducted in a home in Halkida (where it is suspected the two men operated from) authorities uncovered and seized the following:
  • One (1) type sub machine gun MP-5
  • One (1) STERLING brand sub machine gun in 9mm
  • Two (2) military rifles
  • Twenty six (26) guns
  • One (1) silencer for a gun
  • Four (4) handguns
  • One (1) stun gun 9mm
  • One (1) gun (replica)
  • Three (3) defensive grenades empty MKZ
  • Two (2) full metal engraving dies
  • Eighteen (18) gun metal clips
  • Seventy-six (76) rounds of 9 mm
  • Fifteen (15) rounds of 7.65 mm
  • Fifty-seven (57) rounds
  • Eleven (11) complete with corresponding valve gun barrels
  • One (1) closing mechanism pistol GLOCK17
  • Four (4) gun barrels
  • One (1) body bolt pistol
  • One (1) laser sight pointing target
  • Seven (7) electrical discharge devices (TAZER)
  • Twelve (12) spray anesthetics
  • And many accessories for firearms and military rifles.
The two men are now set to face a prosecutor, but police officials are still on the hunt for three more Greek nationals that are involved in this circuit as well as 11 foreigners of which, six are Americans, three are Germans, one is Australian and one is Canadian.
