First Results of Exit Polls - Election Proceedure "Shady"


Without a doubt Sunday's vote is crucial, but there were some election twists that raise questions about the election proceedure. The results are based on a +1 and -1 difference with 80 percent of the exit polls counted. (Results are based on ANT1 and MEGA channel exit polls)
  • New Democracy 30-5 - 27.5
  • SYRIZA 27-30 (or 28.5)
  • PASOK 12-10
  • Independent Greeks - 7.5-6.0
  • Golden Dawn - 7.5-6.0
  • Democratic Left - 5.5-6.0
  • KKE - 5-6

Twitter Account Hacked - The General Secretary of the Greek Communist Party spoke of “sabotage” against her political party on Twitter where a message was posted that advised communist voters to prefer SYRIZA. The General Secretariat of KKE asked her supporters to keep "their eyes open till the election concludes."

Hand grenade outside of SKAI TV - A hand grenade was found by SKAI television security staff outside the main building. The grenade, according to a report on protothema.gr is Russian made and looked like it was ready to explode. Police authorities and the bomb squad were called to the scene immediately.

Destroyed ballot box in Thessaloniki - A father and his son were arrested in Thessaloniki early on Sunday after they attacked an employee who worked for the elections because she made a comment regarding their behaviour. The two men also caused damage to one ballot box which was replaced soon after.

Gunshots in Zante - A man of 22 on the island of Zante shot twice in the air with a hunting gun outside the Laganas polling station and then he disappeared. The incident took place at 10:30 a.m. local. The man is wanted.

Busy Airport Arrivals - Airport staff said that voters were approaching them today claiming that first they cast their ballot and now they are leaving the country worried about what will come next. They did not however indicate whether or not these travellers were of Greek or foreign descent.
