SPECIAL REPORT - Subject Oil Exploration - Truth And Many Many Lies

On Saturday, April 28, 2012  we featured a story titled "With The Threat of War - Turkey Issues Permits For Gas Exploration Near Rhodes And Kastelorizo" and several days later we ran a follow-up story featuring the maps on a separate article titled "The Turkish maps For Oil Exploration In Greece and Cyprus Exposed!".

In the first article we said that Turkey decided to issue permits for oil and gas exploration south of the islands of Rhodes and Kastelorizo.  We also noted that if this happened in any other civilized country in the world, then this would be a cause for war. Nonetheless with a government that bows to Ankara the news had not even been mentioned in the mainstream media. "Aside from protothema, defencenet and a few blogs, very few people know that Turkey is actually planning to begin oil and gas exploration in Greek territorial waters!" In the second article we even featured the maps which were exposed by newsbomb... but did any one's ears pull up a sweat? Not on your lives!

And we arrive at today.

Today while googling the Internet for interesting bits of news, hellasfrappe stumbled upon a video featuring an interview with Professor of Emeritus Antonis Foskolos that was conducted on CRETE TV over a year ago. Foskolos is from the Department of Mineral Resources and Engineering of the Technical University of Crete and as some may recall, he is also an energy counselor to the Canadian government and the only Greek to be part of explorations near the North Pole. He has said many times that on account of the geophysical data he has many other areas in Greece (the Aegean, and the Ionian and especially under Crete) have the potential of becoming large producers of oil and natural gas following huge amounts of hydrocarbon discoveries. (Read relevant article here)

He said that foreigners have been exploring the waters around the island of Crete for years for this very reason. Asked by the reporter to describe the magnitude of the deposits, Foskolos said that "we are looking at the crumbs in the Ionian, appetizers in the Aegean and the “bon filet” under Crete . He also said something else that is very, very important. Foskolos noted that this information has been known for years by the Norwegians, the French and especially the Americans, who have been investigating the Cretan and the Libyan seas without the Greek people's knowledge!

Another thing he said which was totally shocking to us, and which ties in with the first paragraph and featured at about 23.45 seconds into the video, is that  Greek oil companies have begun exploring oil deposits in Turkish territorial waters because the Greek government (PASOK) forbid them to explore areas within Greece!

Should we repeat?

Greece, or better yet, the government of George Papandreou, (because the video is dated from 2011) forbid Greek companies to search for oil and natural gas in Greek territorial waters so they are now searching for hydrocarbons close to Anatalya with money from Greek tax payers! Is this why our government has yet to react over Ankara's intent to search for hydrocarbons under Rhodes and Kastelorizo?

We apologize for zooming ahead, but the news was so shocking to us that we had to analyze it first before going over the video from the beginning.

At the beginning of the video Foskolos makes it perfectly clear that after a similar exploration was held 16 years ago in the Ionian (again under a PASOK government), but his team was forced to shut down its investigation. Following this PASOK announced that the reason the investigation was shutting down was because there was no oi in the Ionian. Today Foskolos reveals that this was a lie! (This is mentioned at about 6 minutes into the video).

He said that in 1995 he and his team began exploring for potential hydrocarbons in the Ionian Sea, one year before the corrupt government of Costas Simitis came to power. "We began searching for natural gas, and for some odd and unexplained reason our drill was blocked -purposely- with cement. So we began searching a little further up from the Gulf of Patras. The order that was given to us by Greek energy officials was that we could drill up to 7,000 thousand meters and we would reach our target." They even told his team that the target equalled to "oil". "And for some odd reason a voice intervened and said that you cannot drill for 7,000 meters but you should drill twice at 3,500 thousand meters each time. In other words... do not ever reach the target."

At this point Foskolos laughed ironically.

"The survey thus closed in 1997 (when Simitis' government was in full swing) and on the same day the survey shut down Russia began to import its own natural gas into Greece, was this a coincidence?" Foskolos asked.

Parallel to this, he adds, other organizations that were related to oil and gas exploration were also forced to shut down and the government officially declared that Greece did not have any natural gas or oil, when all the while it was the very government of PASOK that forbid the Greek team to actually continue with the explorations knowing very well that there was oil.

Following this, the very plots described as being "empty" by the Greek government were then mysteriously sold to the Latsis family. When the Latsis family obtained them, they took the entire scientific team that worked on these plots to Libya and stopped every sort of investigation in this area!

We then zoom to 2010 and the government of George Papandreou finally admits that they were wrong in stopping these explorations, and that there are three of four (deposits) in the exact same areas where they had said that oil and natural gas did not exist! (Incidentally, the look on the reporter's face at this point in the video is totally priceless).

Finally at about 43 minutes into the video he also reveals how Greece's oil and natural gas deposits will literally be "stolen" by many of our European member states with the help of wealthy Greek oil families who rather prefer importing oil to Greece rather than allowing Greece to benefit from their own reserves.

Friends... it is all beginning to make sense now. We are talking about one HUGE mess and tonnes of lies which have been fed to the Greek people.

The natural gas and oil under Crete, which the professor says numbers in the trillions, has been known for years by the English, the Italians, the Norwegians, the Americans, the French and the Germans. That explains why they wanted us to join the Eurozone knowing very well that the Simitis government rigged the numbers. We knew that PASOK worked for the Greek oligarchy and our guess is that they protected their interests, to maintain their position in power. This is also probably why our entrance to the Memorandum was announced at Kastelorizo. It makes perfect sense. We are surrounded by traitors! And we are being hit from every corner!

We will stop here and allow you to watch the rest of the video for yourselves.

Editor's note - We are dealing with nothing more than traitors. People have stripped Greece and its people of all their dignity and everything they own and the oligarchs are continuing to mass their fortunes at our expense. If Greek families fattened the bellies of Greek politicians to safeguard their interests so that they can profit from importing oil and natural gas into Greece, and if Greek politicians accepted these kickbacks and allowed this to continue for years... then now we know why Europe has bound us hand and foot and suddenly they are beginning to drill for oil. If on the other, surveys were conducted without our knowledge and at the same time European nations lent us this money knowing very well that it would send our debt through the ceiling... but knowing that they would then come in and ask us for our reserves in exchange for the debt... then this debt is nothing more than odious and should never be paid back. Friends we are furious... and we are ashamed that we had not viewed this video earlier. We are angry that Greek oligarchs have not permitted this country to go forward so that they can continue to profit at our expense. We are furious that Europe and our governments have known this for years and for two years have been calling us lazy and a good for nothing people. We are furious that we are flooded by so many lies! All these families should be ousted from Greece and declared perssona non grata and their assets should be confiscated and our debt should never be paid, kai se opion aresei.
