Papoulias To Resume Deliberations For Coalition Gov't

President of the Republic Karolos Papoulias is going to resume deliberations with political party leaders on Monday afternoon in a last-ditch effort to forge a coalition government. Papoulias has called a meeting among SYRIZA, New Democracy (ND, which placed first in the inconclusive elections) leader Antonis Samaras, PASOK (third place) leader Evangelos Venizelos, and Democratic Left (DIMAR, 7th place) leader Fotis Kouvelis. SYRIZA sources said that Tsipras will not attend the meeting as an expression of strong annoyance" since there is no convergence of positions for the formation of a government. Following the deliberations, the minutes from the two days of meetings, which began on Sunday, will be uploaded on the Hellenic Presidency of the Republic webpage.
