Kouvelis Says Greece Must Propose Eurobond At EU Summit

The Greek government, regardless of its limited abilities in its caretaker capacity, must take advantage of the international environment and put forward a series of proposals that could relieve the Greek society, moblise the production engine, and boost employment and halt the galloping unemployment, Democratic Left (DIMAR) leader Fotis Kouvelis said on Monday after a meeting with caretaker prime minister Panagiotis Pikrammenos, who is holding separate talks throughout the day with political party leaders ahead of an EU summit on Wednesday. In that direction, the caretaker prime minister must propose the issue of a eurobond, "as DIMAR has insisted from the very beginning", seek relaxation of the fiscal adjustment through extension of the time, propose direct financing of the member states from the European Central Bank (ECB) and insist on the need for boosting the funds for the European Investment Bank (EIB).
