Unemployment The Biggest Fear Of Greek Citizens, Says New Poll

Greek citizens fear being unemployed, according to a recent opinion poll conducted for Crash magazine by the ALCO public opinion polling company. According to the results, 42 percent of respondents claimed that unemployment was their biggest fear for the future while their second fear was the inadequacy of the politicians (26 percent). The nationwide poll that was conducted by ALCO on a sampling of 1,200 adults from March 20 to 27 noted that citizens also feared a wider spread of corruption, or some 15 percent, while approximately 11 percent of respondents said their biggest fear was the concession of Greece's national sovereignty and 5 percent said they were afraid of the aspirations of foreign lenders. Even the Wall Street Journal said in a recent report that the worst unemployment figures in Europe come from Greece (or stand at an official 21% because the unofficial numbers are at least 30%) and Spain (23.6%), with youth unemployment topping 50%. The particular report said that Greece's unemployment was a comparatively modest 14.3% in 2011 and now there is near-impossibility of finding a job.
