Greece Joins NATO Schriever Wargame 2012


Seven NATO countries, including Greece, are presently participating for the first time in an exercise that focuses on issues of Space Cyber Warfare in the US. More exactly, Greece, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Turkey are currently taking part in Schriever Wargame 2012 International Games, which began on April 20.

The Space Innovation and Development Center is apparently conducting the war game at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., on behalf of US Air Force Space Command, Colorado Springs, Colo.

A press release from US Air Force Space Command said that the Schriever Wargame aims to explore critical space issues and investigate the integration activities of multiple agencies associated with space systems and services. At the same time, the Schriever Wargame is going to include international partners from Australia, Canada and the UK.

In particular it focuses on:
  • In consideration optimize space applications to support NATO expeditionary operations
  • The evaluation of operational integration of cyber-infrastructure in the space.
