The Saga Of Understanding George Continues ...

Remember our articles on how to better understand the world according to George? Well... low and behold we have another entry! In a recent interview on a British channel, George Papandreou said the reactions by the citizens in Greece against the austerity measures have been profound... but aside from the massive suicide rate and poverty the country will continue with the same painful reforms.

He said it upsets him when reports from countries such as Germany describe the Greek people as being lazy and corrupt, but Mr. Papandreou forgets that he himself called the country and its citizens corrupt on more than one occasion. In fact he indirectly called us corrupt again! "If we were as transparent as Sweden we would automatically gain 8 percent GDP". Because we do not want to be nasty... we hope he was referring to the billions of Euros that his elite colleagues in the Greek Parliament and friends in the business sector have sheltered in Switzerland... because the average Greek family cannot make ends meet today let alone have loose change that accounts for 8 percent of the GDP!

When the reporter asked him how he was going to change a system which he undoubtedly inherited from his father Andreas Papandreou, good old George said he does not like the word "aristocracy" or the word "inheritance" because both his grandfather and his father "fought" for democracy...  "We planted a tree, and even though we will not bask in the shade of this tree, we at least know we planted a tree." This made us fall off our chairs with laughter. What democracy? Bringing the IMF to Greece, agreeing to divide the Aegean and selling out the issue of Macedonia is not fighting for democracy. Agreeing to "undefined zones" in the Aegean, erasing islands of the map and giving away our natural resources has nothing to do with "planting trees" you wannabe farmer of green development "kai prasina aloga"... its called selling us out, or better yet TREASON.

Please our pills... We give up!
