Kassimatis Says Gov't Searching For Ways To Legalize Referendum

Professor of Constitutional Law and Emeritus –and Lawyer PhD - at the Law School of the University of Athens, George Kassimatis says that the government is trying to find a formula to legalize the announcement of the referendum because the Greek Constitution stipulates that a referendum of an economic nature cannot be held. The referendum that Papandreou wants to stage will ask citizens YES to Europe and the harsh austerity measures and loss of sovereignty or NO to Europe, the Eurozone and back to the drachma. It goes against everything our Constitution stands for, but it is also a ploy by the Greek government to legalize the loan agreements the Troika made with Greece because they have yet to even come to Parliament! Yes you heard correctly, the loan agreements have not ever come to Parliament and the Greek people are being forced pay cuts, higher taxes and the possibility of default, because our government formulated laws that defy the Greek Constitution. We here at hellasfrappe have been screaming this out for months now... while our foreign friends called us lazy and good for nothing ouzo drinkers. Greek people want to pay back the money they borrowed from Europe, but we have to first know how much we owe and they will not permit us to even know this. Also... why would Germany want us to unconditionally waive our national sovereignty? And when we say sovereignty we mean on all fronts; foreign, legislative, economic, judicial and administrative. The next obvious question would be, how did a loan agreement come to pass without ever going through the Greek parliament for ratification, especially this agreement which basically gives away our national SOVEREIGNTY? According to Kassimatis, several days after (a part of the memorandum, not the whole script) went to Parliament and was voted on by the government (and not by 180 votes as stipulated in the Greek Constitution for international loan agreements) a new law was formulated, or more exactly Law #3547, which no one knew about, giving exclusive rights to former Finance Minister George Papakostantinou  to only decide -and sign- on behalf of Greece every loan agreement that is made thereafter. And we here at hellasfrappe ask: Is this null or legal? Obviously it is null. So we are left with two conclusions.... they knew this so they can implement the harsh austerity measures on Greece knowing very well that at some point the population would explode, and demand to leave Europe, or... they did this knowing how incapable the Greek government was to implement these measures so they can throw us out of Europe. Finally.... Would it be easier for a Germany or the US to control Greece (and its natural reserves) if they were out of the Euro, than part of the EU.... you decide.
