If you are planning to commit a crime, then why not Norway? No walls, no barbed wire and no guards. The prison island of Bastoy in the fjord of Olso is more like a holiday camp than a prison. When the weather is nice the inmates go for a walk by the sea or swim in it. Inmates are housed in cozy wooden cottages, complete with all modern comforts, and work the prison farm. During
their free time, inmates have access to horseback riding, fishing,
tennis and even cross-country skiing. The facility is apparently located on a 2.6 square kilometer island and hosts 115 inmates. The director here says the emphasis is based on trust and humanity, and adds that this system gives the prisoners the chance to "find themselves". We here at hellasfrappe say "WHAT ARE THEY SMOKING UP THERE?
