Turkey's Prime Minister R.T. Erdogan postponed his trip to Kazakhstan and Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu cancelled a planned trip to Serbia on Wednesday after about 200 militants from the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) killed at least 26 soldiers and police officers and injured at least 22 others in one of the deadliest attacks on Turkish security forces in years. According to a report on defencenet the longstanding conflict between Turkey and the PKK began escalating last night and went well into the day today. Attacks on police and military installations in southeastern Turkey were made, prompting a Turkish military response that involved incursions into northern Iraq. The report said that the attacks were carried in eight locations in the towns of Cukurca and Yuksekova in Hakkari province near the Iraqi border.
