Dimwit Dalaras says the Aegean does not belong to Greece, it belongs to the fish!

You know the saying... Ti mas les re Dalara? Meaning what are you saying now you dimwit...?

Now I understand why people use this idiom.

Ahead of a scheduled concert in Costantinopole singer George Dalaras gave an interview to the Turkish newspaper Hyrriyet on Friday that raised quite a few eyebrows in Greece.

Asked about the Aegean… he came out with an all-time whopper! “Maps are printed and defined by topographers, planners and mathematicians. God does not have a typography factory. Others say the Aegean belongs to Greeks others to the Turks. In reality, the Aegean sea belongs to the fish”.

He said that people are born to live together, meaning that Greeks and Turks were born to integrate. “We live next to each other for thousands of years (now). If we fly a bit higher, we won’t be seeing the lines and borders on a map” he said characteristically.

The audacity of Dalaras to say that the Aegean belongs to the fish’ is both insulting… as well as uncalled for. The audacity to tie our nations together when we all know how many differences exist between both nations. Did he say all this to impress his Turkish fans so that they can flood his concert? Or is this his overall opinion in general? Because if it is… then I propose that he not return to Greece and stay in Constantinople…  His statements are dangerous… and suspicious. The dispute on the Aegean between Greece and Turkey is not a toy to help elevate his celebrity status and/or sell CDs and he does not speak on behalf of the Greek people.

Ay Sixtir! Den mas xezeis re Dalaras!
