Speaking to ANT1 tv, government spokesman Gabriel Sakellaridis described the list of reform proposals that was submitted by the government to the Eurogroup as a win for the Greek people, since it does not contain any specific commitments. After perplexing the reporter with his statement, Sakellaridis noted that this did not mean that the government has the room for interventions of any sort.
Pressured to comment on the harsh austerity measures that are part of Greece's obligations -as noted on the list-, Sakellaridis rather said that the new list includes positive points that were not included in all previous agreements.
The government is being criticized heavily for backing down on its election campaign proclamations but according to Sakellaridis many of these proclamations are contained in the new list. “When there are negotiations, things can be achieved”.
He added that any bills and measures are going to be discussed with the institutions (simply put the Troika) before being tabled in the Greek parliament.
Editor's Note: After reviewing the list HellasFrappe did not view any of these proclamations, and we were also perplexed with his statement, but then again we expected it because the Leftist party is attempting to calm the masses after its European realization. Also, HellasFrappe had pledged several weeks ago that it would not comment on the government's flip-flopping to reality until these crucial negotiations come to an end. However, we are not naive, and we certainly have a voice. None of the campaign promises that SYRIZA made prior to winning the January 25th elections can be implemented during this period. Our economy has four months to prepare for a gruelling evaluation by the Troika and this means that the same austerity policies that were being implemented before the elections will continue until then. So if baptizing the Memorandums as "contracts" and the Troika as "institutions" is more gentle to the ears of the average SYRIZA voter then so be it, but it is not going to save our economy, nor the government unless it burns the midnight oil. HellasFrappe chooses to continue saying Troika and Memorandum, because we do not believe in giving people a false sense of hope (especially after so many years in recession). For our sake, and the sake of this nation, we hope that SYRIZA turns its full attention to the reforms and forgets about trotting from television channel to television channel in order to conduct public relations so that its supporters can be content. They need to really concentrate on these four months because any lost bit of time could bring on a Third Memorandum -as already reported on Wednesday morning on SKAI Tv-.
