This story touched our hearts here at HellasFrappe so we decided to feature it. Italian professor Salvatore Lo Sicco who apparently lives and works in Britain decided to get on his bike for a 35-day ride from London to Athens in order to raise awareness over the return of the Parthenon Marbles to Greece.

The “London to Athens Bike Tour 2014” was immediately supported by the British Committee for the Reunification of the Parthenon Marbles, which has campaigned for the return of the artifacts exhibited in the British Museum.

When he arrived in Greece, Lo Sicco was greeted by Deputy Minister of Culture Angela Gerekou in Athens. The Greek Deputy Minister praised him for his initiative stating that the Parthenon Marbles demand is not a “Greek” request, but an demand that has been made by the global community. The Italian professor agreed, adding that “the return of the Parthenon Marbles is a moral and historic obligation”.
