The island which is known all over the world for its stunning sunsets, picturesque alleys, amazing wines, tasty fava beans and delectable tomatoes, is apparently more popular than party island Mykonos.

According to USNews journal, the isle of the Windmills, or Mykonos, is beautiful but it is no match to Santorini. In a recent article showcasing the top 16 islands in the world, both islands were favored for their beauty. Mykonos came in eleventh while Santorini was voted as being the best island in the world. The Greek islands competed with earthly paradises in the Pacific and Indian Oceans, such as Maldives and the exotic Fiji but nonetheless our Santorini came first!
The basic criteria for an island to be included in the list, according to the authors of the newspaper, was not only the beauty of the landscape and/or beaches, but the island were also judged on having that special “magic spark”, which is that extra something that keeps travelers enchanted. And let's be honest... Santorini does indeed have that character.
