An early morning aftershock measuring 4.7 on Richter scale struck the island of Cephalonia at dawn on Friday. The Geodynamic Institute of Athens said in an announcement that the quake was recorded at a depth of 5 kilometers and occurred at about 5:39am.
Researchers at the Geodynamic Institute believe that the post-seismic activity that the island is presently experiencing will carry on for some time, while the intensity of the aftershocks will begin to wane sooner or later.
Meanwhile the secondary inspection of buildings affected by the powerful earthquakes is ongoing and as soon as it is complete, homeowners are going to be able to collect emergency benefits to help restore damages.
