Two Earthquakes & 60 Aftershocks Rock Lamia & Shake Up Athens! (VIDEO)


Several earthquakes, the first felt at 12:06 measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale and a second at 16:44, measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale, literally rocked the area of Lamia today, but was felt across the greater region of the Fthiotis prefecture, it was also felt in Viotia, the island Evia and even as far away as Athens!

The epicenter of the quake, which caused little or no damage, was reported to be in the area of Amfiklia, Lamia (central Greece) at a depth of 10 km under the surface of the earth.

The director of the Hellenic Geo-Dynamic Institute, Konstantinos Makropoulos, was quoted by reporters as saying that over 60 aftershocks have been recorded since the two major quakes, two of which registered higher than 4 on the Richter scale.

The quakes resulted in some landslides, especially in the area of Amfiklia as well as near the towns of Kamena Vourla and Tithorea.

No major damages or injuries were reported (so far).
