Archbishop Ieronymos, who is still in the US on an official trip, reportedly received a donation of US $100.000 from Archbishop Demetrios of America as an initial amount to help the children in Greece that are in need. The contribution was made after the Archiepiscopal common liturgy in the Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Manhattan, New York.
Addressing the congregation afterwards, Ieronymos noted that in Greece people are suffering and that there’s a lot of pain. He said that he was optimistic that this would pass that that the only thing that was needed was to "keep our souls strong.”
He then hailed the Diaspora of America by stressing that they constitute "a Greece, outside of Greece".
