Greece is going to be this year’s honoured country at the "Régions Capitales pour le Cinéma," an event dedicated to young artists’ projects at Cannes Film Festival. The event is scheduled to take place on May 21 at the and is expected to be coordinated by Olivier-René Veillon of the Île de France Film Commission, along with the Cultural Affairs Councilor of the Greek Prime Minister’s office, Dimosthenis Davetas, with the support of the Greek Film Center.
Ile de France Film Commission, the German Media Council of Berlin-Brandenburg and the Film Commissions of Madrid and Rome chose to honour Greece, bringing at the Croisette a group of nine young Greek producers to promote their upcoming projects and meet with producers and potential financial backers. These include projects by some of Greece’s most talented young directors, such as Athina Rachel Tsangaris, Argyris Papadimitropoulos, Filippos Tsitos and Syllas Tzoumerkas.
