This year's tourism season will be launched on the south Aegean island of Crete with the arrival of a chartered flight from Israel at Iraklio's "N. Kazantzakis" International Airport on March 24. Local travel professionals say that based on early indications, tourist arrivals in 2013 are going to mark a record increase as opposed to the 2012 tourism season.

In other related news, tourism professionals expect that this year arrivals will surpass the 17 million mark, which will be great for the Greek economy. In fact industry officials estimate that charter flight arrivals from Russia alone, are expected to increase by at least 30 percent, while German arrivals are also expected to soar.
