Consumer Warning Over More Meat Products With Horse DNA (Latest List)

With more available laboratory results after relevant controls of the Attica, Central Macedonia and East Macedonia and Thrace Regional Directorates of EFET, consumers are informed that horse meat DNA was detected in the following products:

- Beer sausage slices weighing 450gr. under the brand name "PASSIAS" with lot number 75556 111124 and expiration date 10/04/2013

- Boiled garlic meat pieces weighing 330gr under the brand "PASSIAS" with lot number and expiration date 75832 26/05/2013

- Salami pieces weighing 0,496 kg under the brand "PASSIAS" with lot number 76039 and date 20/05/2013 produced by  "EG PASSIAS SA company (P. Athenagoras 7, New Efkarpia Thessaloniki).

- Frankfurt Sausages in packages weighing 300gr under the brand "Mr. Grand", lot number and expiration date 75846 30/03/2013

- Giant Classic Parizaki slices (bologne) weighing 600gr, under the brand name "Mr. Grand", lot number and expiration date 76114 18/06/2013 prepared on behalf of the D. MASOUTIS AE group (14th km Thessaloniki - Vasilikon) by «E.G. PASSIAS SA" (P. Athenagoras 7, Nea Efkarpia Thessaloniki).

- Frozen meatballs NAPOLITEN in 2kg packages with batch number 06021339, date of production and expiry date 06/02/2013 06/02/2014 produced by the «SPECIAL EDESMATA SA" company (14th km Thessaloniki - Mihanionas , Regional Airport, Thermi).

- KEBAB TRADITIONAL X / CABLE KTPS in packages weighing 815gr. with lot number L:310, date of packaging and expiry date 02.13.2013 20.07.2013 prepared and packaged by the KRIVEK SA company (Hersonissos Heraklion Crete) and sampled from the CHALKIADAKIS SA supermarket (Isavron & Sophocli Venizelou, Heraklion, Crete).

- Sausage Petalo with the name «Ozyorem Kaysevi sucuk 455 gr», with production code L-12345 and expiration date 04/10/2013 which is produced by the Dutch company «NL 687 EG» for the German company «DEMKA GmbH »and sold from the store" ALI BABA "(Arsakeio Sapes, Rodopi).

- RURAL SALAMI with the brand name «LeFruMarin - Salam Rustic», in packs of 1800 gr and expiry date 03.02.2013 produced by the Romanian company «LeFruMarine SRL» and sampled from the Mini Market on Smyrna st. 17, Thebes Viotia.

- Kebab Armenian type with best before date 7/8/2013,

- Meat product Soutzoukaki 80 g (in Greek: «Σουτζουκάκι 80 γρ.») with best before date 24/1/2014,

- Burger 130 g (in Greek: «Μπιφτέκι 130 γρ.») with best before date 27/11/2013

- Burger 130 g» (in Greek: «Μπιφτέκι 130 γρ.») with best before date 12/02/2014 which are produced by the company "T&T Foods ΑΕ" (630 80 Lakoma Chalkidikis) and distributed by the company "Choutos Catering S.A."

- Frozen Kebab «ARISTON» (in Greek: «ΑΡΙΣΤΟΝ») with production date 31.12.2012 Lot 036512 and use by date 31.12.2013 which is produced by the "LADAS & SIA ΑVΕΕ" company (19 Ortansias street, Acharnai, Attica). Raw material supplier of the meat is the enterprise "Zikoudi V. EPE".

- Intermediate product «Soutzouki» (in Greek: «Σουτζούκι») of the company "MPATANIAN S.A.", based at the Industrial Zone of Koropi, following control by the Directorate of Rural Economy and Veterinary of the East Attica Prefectural Unit, which confirmed the relevant control previously announced by the press release of EFET on the 28th February 2013.

In addition, EFET, was informed through the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) by the German Authorities regarding distribution of a tin product, in which horse DNA has been detected.

The product is a tin of sauté bovine meat with buckwheat, with trade name “ГОВЯДИНа” in 325 g package, of Letonian origin. The product is distributed in Greece by the companies “CHARATSIDOU E.-TSIKIRIDOU A. S.A.” (8 Petrou Ralli street, Rouf, Athens) and “KAKAFIKAS S. and SIA EPE” (219 El. Venizelou street, Kallithea, Athens).

DNA was also detected in other products as well.

More specifically, the implicated product is “Sausage” (in Greek: «ΛΟΥΚΑΝΙΚΟ ΧΩΡΙΑΤΙΚΟ»), with the trade name “Nostima”, production date 23/2/2013 and best before date 25/3/2013. This product is produced and packaged by the company “STAMPOLIDIS I. & VASILIADI BROS EPE” (in Greek: «ΣΤΑΜΠΟΛΙΔΗΣ Ι. & ΑΦΟΙ ΒΑΣΙΛΕΙΑΔΗ Ε.Π.Ε.»), based on the 6th klm of the Alexandroupoli-Makri National Road.

Additionally, EFET informs consumers that regarding laboratory controls in the entire food chain so far, one hundred and seventy seven (177) samples have been officially taken covering different product categories. Until present, seventy eight (78) samples have been analysed. Seventy two (72) of these samples were negative and six (6) samples were positive recall refers to the following products:

1) Frozen “KEBAB, ARMENIAN TYPE”, with trade name "AR-KAS/AΡ-ΚΑΣ", in package of 1kg, producer-packager «MPATANIAN S.A., Industrial Zone of Koropi», which is distributed by the Super Market “METRO ΑVΕΕ, subbranch
in Kavala”.

2) BEEF SALAMI, with trade name "Destan", in package of 500g, produced by the Dutch company “DEMKA GmbH”, approval number NL 77 EG, and distributed by the grocery shop “Giakoup Giakoup, Filira Sappon, Rhodopes”.

EFET requested the immediate recall/withdrawal of all of the above products from the internal market. Relevant controls are in progress. In case of new positive results the foreseen measures are going to be implemented and consumer update will follow. Consumers can visit the EFET website www.efet.gr for additional information.
