PROVOCATION - Turkish FM "Hopes" the Aegean Will Always Remain Free

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu arrived in Athens on Wednesday in order to meet and hold talks with Greek officials. As always, Mr. Davutoglu raised a few eyebrows when he said that he wished "the Aegean would always be free".

Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras received and held held talks Davutoglu and then the Turkish FM met with his Greek counterpart Dimitris Avramopoulos.  The agenda apparently included the fighting in Syria and immigration flows. Greece is after all the main transit point for illegal immigrants entering the European Union, the majority of which cross over through Turkey.

He then met with the President of Parliament Mr. Meimarakis and as always provoked Greek sentiment (and hospitality) by saying that he hopes that ""the Aegean will always be free".

(Editor - What does he mean he wishes the Aegean would always be free. Is it under occupation now?)

His "wish" is the talk (and concern) of the day in almost every political circle, obviously for good reason! 

Seriously, who would threaten the sovereignty of the Aegean?

It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out this one.

Only Turkey has openly threatened Greece with war if Greece went ahead in announcing its EEZ in the Aegean.

What a sarcastic, hypocritical and provocative statement to make. 

We know that Turkey wants unrest in the Aegean and dreams of a clear dividing line.

Davutoglu cannot get out of his country's past glories. He still believes that it is the medieval period and the Ottoman rule is still conquering nations and enslaving their people. Someone better slap him back into reality and bring him up-to-date.

Greece's boarders and its independence began being determined in the war of Independence in 1821 and concluded with the signing of international treaties years later. Whether Turkey likes it or not, international treaties cannot be refuted. Also... We did not know that NATO allows for one ally to threaten another so-called NATO ally...

Finally... as long as the Aegean remains Greek, it will forever have peace Mr. Davutoglu... our culture and history is not recognized for its barbarism.
