SHOCK - Pedophiles Teaching In Greek Schools Says State Investigator

The recent revelations from State Inspector General Mr Leandros Rakintzis on impunity in the public sector are indeed shocking and extremely alarming. Rakintzis complained to "Proto Thema" newspaper at the weekend about the attitude of some state disciplinary councils that instead of doing their job correctly only impose soft penalties - that can be only be compared to a caress- to individuals who have been charged with a plethora of offences including pedophilia!

According to the report, there are currently eight teachers who have heavy criminal records, or have been involved in the sexual abuse of children and/or child pornography, and other such misconduct, who never lost their licenses to teach and are still employed by the State!

Rakintzis then pointed to several examples:

- One teacher had posted a naked photo of his daughter on the Internet with a caption that wrote "here Kinky". The photo was shockingly posted on a school website and what is even more shocking is that no one noticed the photo for at least three months.

- Another case involves a professor who was said to be involved in a sex act with a schoolgirl at the same school where he was teaching. When the scandal broke out, and he went before the disciplinary council, he was only punished with temporary leave from work -of five months- but with FULL salary.

- One more case concerns a professor who reportedly was linked to a crime circuit involved in trafficking and child pornography. The professor, according to the same article, was only punished with a temporary leave from work of about 4.5 months but the disciplinary council decided that he should also be compensated with FULL salary as well.

- Rakintzis then speaks about another case involving a professor who was found in possession of child pornographic material (over 3,000 photos and 100 videos of) and in his case the disciplinary council only punished him with a temporary leave of six months but decided that he must also receive FULL salary also!

The list cites many other similar and shocking cases, and one incident involving a teacher who was accused of aggravated burglary, illegal possession of weapons and extortion and who was only punished with a six-month temporary leave!

Obviously the decisions of the disciplinary councils who investigate these cases cause nothing more than public outrage, said Rakitzis.

(We totally agree)

Editor's Note - Certainly the so-called "disciplinary councils" need to be disciplined first! They are clearly protecting and serving the interests of "their own". This has to end.. This is ridiculous and very alarming. These people are teaching our children, and move within our circles and our community and we are not allowed to know who they are. They were not punished for their acts, and what is worse... you, I, and all the idiots around us paid for their salaries while they were on leave! Imagine that... They committed a disgusting crime, and were only asked to take a vacation for several months... and WE paid for it! THIS IS SICK! If Rakintzis is there to supervise the State disciplinary councils then he should fire all of them, and replace them with competent officials who will finally clean-up shop. Rakintzis should then submit his resignation, because such tactics (as we all know) in the Greek public system, have been occurring for years. We need a more efficient, and citizen-friendly State, that will work for the interests of the Greek citizen... and not for a union brother or sister.
