Government spokesman Simos Kedikoglou, referring to Prime Minister Antonis Samaras' meetings with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande, in Berlin and Paris, respectively, emphasised that "a first step was taken, the path, however, is long and the effort huge, and we believe that the first sign of the restoration of the country's credibility was recorded."
Asked whether the government is concerned of possible reactions by New Democracy (ND) deputies to a new round of austerity measures, Kedikoglou noted that "we are not afraid because we know that we are following the only path that can keep Greece in Europe, and which can get us onto a course for growth very soon.
